When you are having a get together or a celebration there is nothing like a live band to make it go with a swing. Everyone from young to old likes to get up and dance to live music and having a group performing at your celebration is certain to turn it into a night to remember. So whatever type of special event you are planning, be it a birthday celebration, wedding party, anniversary or just an excuse to get together with friends a live band will make all the difference.
There is a whole variety of bands which will lead to a great night but to give your guests something just a little different why not get a Ceili band? Ceilidh bands perform traditional country music for folks to get up and dance to along with some songs, jokes and storytelling mixed in for good measure. The songs performed by Ceili bands can differ depending on where you live so Irish Ceili bands can have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the end result will be the same-a fantastic time for all.
A Ceili band will come complete together with a caller to teach the dancers in the steps that they should carry out to each tune. He will start by giving a brief introduction to the up coming song and talk about the steps that go with it and call out instructions when the music is being performed. At the start of the night the steps are going to be relatively straightforward but harder and intricate steps will be introduced as people become more comfortable with the dances.
Ceili bands perform music in the traditional Celtic style while barn dance bands and Hoedown bands have their origins in a different tradition completely. However there are many similarities between the two with each of them based on largely traditional songs with a caller calling the steps.
You can have a Ceili or a Hoedown in just about any location you like providing there’s sufficient room for folks to get up and dance and enjoy themselves. Callers bands and wedding ceilidh bands will provide their PA system and caller all you need to do is get a suitable location and fill it with your family and friends and have a great time.
